MENDELU Experts Inspire Future Leaders at Innovator 2024

4. 11. 2024

On October 25, 2024, Mendel University experts joined forces with students at Innovator 2024, held at the VIDA Science Center, to inspire the next generation of water management leaders. This event brought together high school and VET students, offering them a hands-on opportunity to engage with vital, real-world topics in environmental science and urban sustainability.

Representing the PoVE Water Scale-up and WATERLINE projects, Petra Oppeltová and Michaela Menšíková from the Faculty of Agriculture led an engaging presentation titled Water in Cities. This critical topic introduced students to the challenges and innovative solutions in urban water management, highlighting the importance of sustainable water use and infrastructure in cities. Oppeltová and Menšíková provided real-life examples of how proper water management can support urban resilience, prevent flooding, and enhance the overall quality of life in metropolitan areas.

Throughout the day, approximately 80 students were able to explore the science and practical application behind urban water systems. Through live demonstrations and discussions, they learned about the essential role of water expertise in shaping the sustainable cities of tomorrow.

This event underscores Mendel University's commitment to connecting practical, solution-oriented education with young people who may become the environmental leaders of the future. By participating in Innovator 2024, we aim to spark interest and inspire new ideas that can address today's environmental challenges with innovative thinking and action.
