HOW TO GET TO BRNO FROM PRAGUE OR VIENNA AIRPORT

From Prague to Brno by Bus

There are several bus companies operating buses from Prague to Brno:

The yellow Student Agency (RegioJet) buses also leave directly from Prague’s Vaclav Havel airport (you will have to transfer at the main bus station Florenc in Prague, but one ticket is valid for the whole journey to Brno by both buses). There is a ticket office of the Student Agency at Terminal 1 in Prague, but you can also buy your ticket in advance and pay by credit card – it is really convenient. Flixbus, Eurolines and other companies operate buses from the bus station Florenc – you can get there by another bus operated by the Student Agency or ask for directions at the airport. Student Agency and Flixbus will drop you off at the Grand Hotel bus station in Brno, while other companies usually stop at Zvonařka bus station.

From Prague to Brno by Train

To get to Brno by train, you first need to reach Prague’s main railway station. You can take the Airport Express, use public transport, or ask for directions at the airport.

You can buy your ticket online at České dráhy or from the RegioJet company, or purchase it directly at the train station.

Please allow at least two extra hours to get from the airport to the railway station. While the journey itself does not take that long, you should account for the time needed to navigate your way and purchase a ticket at the station to ensure a smooth trip.

From Vienna to Brno by Bus

Student Agency, Gepard Express, and FlixBus operate direct buses from Vienna’s Schwechat Airport to Brno. All buses stop at the Grand Hotel bus station in Brno.

From Vienna to Brno by Train

You can also travel from Vienna Airport by train, as there is a railway station located in front of the arrivals hall.

The first option is to take a direct train from the airport to Brno, which runs three times a day. You can check the schedule and purchase a ticket online at RegioJet.

The second option is to change trains at Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna’s main station) or in Břeclav. In this case, check the schedule and buy tickets online at ÖBB. Enter Flughafen Wien or Vienna Schwechat Airport in the "From" field and Brno hl. n. in the "To" field.

HOW TO GET TO MENDEL UNIVERSITY IN BRNO:

Take tram no. 9 from the "Hlavní nádraží" stop (near the Grand Hotel bus station) in the direction of "Lesná" (platform 1). Get off at the "Zemědělská" stop.

Fare: Instead of searching for a ticket for Brno public transport, you can use your credit card by tapping it on the ticket validator inside the tram when you board and again before exiting. The fare will be deducted from your account automatically.

ACCOMMODATION: JAK dormitory, D building, Kohoutova 3 – 11, Brno.

How to get to dormitories:

Take tram no. 9 from the stop “Hlavní nádraží” in the direction of “Lesná” (platform 1) and get off at the 4th stop, “Moravské náměstí.” Change to tram no. 5 in the direction of “Štefánikova čtvrť” (same platform, do NOT cross) and get off at the final stop, “Štefánikova čtvrť.” From there, follow the orange line to reach the reception in building D of the JAK dormitory (as shown in the picture).

The last trams, buses, and trolleybuses run between 22:30 and 23:00. After that, you will need to use a night bus or a ride service like Bolt or Uber. You can also use Google Maps (maps.google.com) to help navigate your way.
