EURORURAL: European Countryside and De-globalisation

11. 9. 2024

The Institute of Applied and Landscape Ecology of the Faculty of Agronomy organized the eighth international EURORURAL conference this year with the theme "European countryside and de-globalization". The first conference with this theme was held in 2008 and, except for the interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been held regularly every two years.

The initiator and main organiser of the conference, Associate Professor Vaishar, mentions several objectives of EURORURAL: "Firstly, we are trying to map research in the European countryside and monitor what the trends are in this field, but above all, this platform is an opportunity for researchers from many disciplines to meet on this topic." This year EURORURAL welcomed thirty scientists from 11 countries. The head of the Institute of Applied and Landscape Ecology, Professor Št'astná, sees the huge contribution of the event to international cooperation and also highlighted the interest in the conference of a number of colleagues from Israel, a country where the Institute has maintained close cooperation on a number of research topics for many years.
